The American Counseling Association (ACA)created the list below of characteristics that make an effective therapist. Successful salespeople know that this list applies to their profession as well. After all, salespeople are helping prospects and customers by providing a solution that will, in some way, enhance their environment.

Divide this list into two columns: glow and grow. Put the traits where you excel under glow. The remaining traits belong on the grow side. Pick one to work on until you can successfully move it to the glow side. The people you come into contact with will thank you.
