Even in the middle of 2024, we continue to hear from many of the salespeople in our classes that they do not use LinkedIn for business. We frequently hear things like I am not a social media person or that LinkedIn is a waste of time.

If you are not connecting with your customers on LinkedIn, you are missing out on a powerful tool for keeping in touch with your customers and prospects. Many salespeople have a mindset of working with accounts or companies. However, we must remember that companies consist of people, and people often move but usually stay in the same industry.

Have you ever called a customer to find out they have left their current company or had an email bounce with no deliverable address? Yes, with some legwork, you can track down people who have left, but LinkedIn is a tool that enables you to keep up with people much faster.

One of the first things people do when they change jobs is update their LinkedIn profile. You will receive a notification once you connect with them whenever they change jobs or companies. The information comes to you, and you can take action proactively. LinkedIn can save you time in the long run when you use it appropriately.
