Is your life running you? Are you unable to find the time to have fun? Does your to-do list just keep getting longer and longer? Are you getting further and further behind? If so, maybe the following can help you get back on top of things.
Understand that it is your choice to live your life as you are doing. You can always change your mind and make some new choices.
Learn to say no. When someone asks you for help, to volunteer for a committee, or to join a group or a cause, make sure that you understand the consequences of saying yes. If you say yes and do not have time to fulfill the commitment, you are being dishonest with yourself and others. That burden will drag you down.
Understand how much of what you do benefits you directly and how much of what you do for others they really ought to learn to do for themselves. Do them a favor and set about to help them learn to be more self-sufficient. It is the old idea of:
If I give you a fish, you will not be hungry today; if I teach you to fish, you need never be hungry.
Do not confuse things that you merely want with those that you really need. Meet your needs and prioritize your wants.
Set aside one hour of quality time for yourself everyday. Do only things that you want to do in your special hour rather than what you think the world expects you to do. Plan this hour carefully. Use the time to work on your priority list of wants. As you check them off, you will feel terrific.
