Advice To My Manager

Recognize that you are my manager, not my buddy, not my mother, not my father. Do not treat me like a child. I am an adult, treat me as such.

When the hole that needs to be dug is too big for one shovel, please climb in and lend me a hand. Do not sit back drinking coffee and watch. Jump in and help!

Make sure your door is open. Tell me what needs to be done and let me do it my way. I think this is called empowerment.

Treat me the way I want to be treated. Not necessarily the way you would want to be treated. One day I may be your manager. Pay backs are tough!

Look for things I do well. Acknowledge my work and reward me with respect. Take the time to pay attention to my efforts, and I will be the best I can possibly be.

Trust me. As my manager you have the opportunity to do immeasurable good.
